November 2, 2021 – Myra presents virtual training at Jewish Family Services, Ottawa, Canada
Myra was invited to present a Zoom workshop to professional staff and managers at Jewish Family Services, Ottawa, Canada on the topic of Trauma-Informed Practice with Aging Survivors. This workshop enhanced attendees’ knowledge about the survivors of the Holocaust and Rwandan genocides. This cutting-edge training, filled with practice techniques, draws upon current research and practice literature from social work, trauma literature, neuroscience, and gerontology. It is also informed by Myra’s thirty years as a professional social worker, educator, therapist, community layperson, researcher, and daughter of survivor parents of Auschwitz and the Lodz Ghetto. Participants improve their therapeutic responses and clinical skills using a trauma-informed approach to practice.
